Privacy Policy

Utah Oracle Users Group (UTOUG, or “we”) believes in the individual’s right to maintain data privacy. That said, the following explains how UTOUG collects and uses your personal data.

What Data Do We Collect and Store?

When you join UTOUG as a member you enter the following information that UTOUG stores for its use:
  • Required data: Name, Email Address
  • Optional data: Phone Number, Photo, Speaking Topics, Interest in Presenting, Speaking Topic, Past Speaker, Group Participation, Company Name, Job Title, Mailing Address, Interest in Volunteering, Notes
If you do not join UTOUG as a member, but just subscribe to UTOUG email blasts, you enter the following information that UTOUG stores for its use:
  • Required data: Name, Email Address
  • Optional data: Phone Number, Photo, Speaking Topics, Interest in Presenting

When you register for a UTOUG event, we also collect and store information about the fee you paid (if any), and the date and name of the event. If you do not register as a member or subscriber, you do not supply any information for us to store and use.

Note: We do not store credit card information for payments you make through our website. We use PayPal for secure, encrypted monetary transactions.

Note: We store all data that you provide us indefinitely.

How Do We Collect Your Data?

You directly provide UTOUG with most of the data we collect about you. We collect data and process data when you:
  • Register for an event.
  • Voluntarily complete a survey or provide feedback through our website.
  • Use or view our website. In this case, information is supplied via your browser’s cookies as well as data that you provide directly.

How Do We Use Your Data?

UTOUG uses your personal data in accordance with current data protection laws and this privacy policy. We collect your data so that we can:
  • Email you about events for which you have registered.
  • Email you about events or services in which we think you will be interested.
  • Send you mail through the postal service about our events or services.
  • Share your contact information with our sponsors as explained in the “Marketing” section below.

Marketing

UTOUG provides the following data about you to its sponsors so they can inform you about their services and products:
  • Name, Email Address
  • Company Name, Title, Mailing Address, Phone Number
  • Group Memberships (topical subgroups of UTOUG for which you signed up) 
You can opt out of receiving any email thread by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email message.

Logging In

Much of the information on the UTOUG website is available to the public and does not require a login. If you do log into your UTOUG online account, your login credentials are encrypted.

How Do We Use Cookies?

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behavior information. When you visit our website, we collect information from you automatically through cookies or similar technology. For further information, visit allaboutcookies.org.

UTOUG uses cookies to maintain your logged-in status and to pass information between its pages. It does not use cookies to track your web browser behavior or history. You can set your web browser to not accept cookies, but if you do that some of our website features may not function.

How to Manage Your Data

As a member, you can manage your data by updating your member profile, which is accessed by logging into the website and clicking your name in the top-right corner. After clicking "Edit profile" you can modify any personal data you have supplied us, remove non-required data, specify privacy options, and update your email subscription preferences.

As a member or as a subscriber, you can alternatively request any of the volunteer members of the Board of Trustees to make a change to your data. Board contact information is available on the UTOUG website (About Us | Leadership Contacts menu option).

Links to Other Websites

The UTOUG website contains links to other websites but our Privacy Policy applies only to our website. If you click a link to another website, the privacy policy of that website will be in effect.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

UTOUG regularly reviews the accuracy of its privacy policy and updates this web page accordingly.
