Oracle’s Basic Compression & How we use it in a warehouse setting.
This presentation will cover the fundamental issues and benefits of using Oracle’s basic compression in our Enterprise Data Warehouse. We’ll talk briefly about the mechanics behind compression, how to implement it, when not to use it, why it’s useful, and other pertinent considerations. We’ll briefly discuss Oracle’s Advanced Compression and why we choose not to use it.

Steve Lyon spent four and a half years working as an Oracle DBA for both GE and Intermountain Healthcare. Eight years ago he joined the Intermountain EDW team as a data architect.
