We all know that regular expressions are an extremely powerful tool in the developer's back pocket, but how often do we make use of this functionality in our SQL?  This presentation will seek to provide a quick overview of regular expressions in general with a deeper dive and demo of the different functions that Oracle provides to use them (with a more detailed review of the syntax and available options).  In addition, we will cover some common use cases where regular expressions can really help us solve our business problems.  We will finish up reviewing the new Oracle 12c Pattern Matching functionality with a fun example to help explain it.

Alex Michael is a Oracle PL/SQL Developer Associate employed by USANA Health Sciences.  He has been playing with Oracle in some shape or fashion since 2002 and loves learning, problem solving, running and hiking in the beautiful Utah mountains.
