Special Interest Groups

As part of your UTOUG Membership, you may join one or more Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Our SIGs provide opportunity to meet and network in more focused, Oracle-related subject areas. Each SIG holds meetings 3-5 times per year.

To become a member of a SIG:
  1. Log into the utoug.org website.
  2. Click your name in the top-right corner, then click "Edit profile."
  3. Scroll down to Group participation, and check the desired SIG(s).
  4. Select the applicable checkboxes for Interested in Presenting at SIG?.
  5. Click Save.

The APEX SIG offers developers and anyone else interested in rapid application development the opportunity to network and share information with peers who are using this cool tool from Oracle.

APEX is a browser-based rapid application development tool from Oracle. As the name implies you can build interactive web applications that easily hook into your Oracle database.

The DBA SIG brings together database administrators with varied experience to learn about up-and-coming database administration topics and best practices. The goal of the group is to enhance the Oracle database administration capabilities of it’s members through learning from experts and learning from each other.

The UTOUG BI SIG's focus is to bring those who are interested and/or involved with business intelligence and data warehousing together to talk about analytical and data warehousing topics and issues. This group succeeds through the help of its members who share their experiences with others.

The BI SIG is not OBIEE focused; we are vendor neutral and realize that different products all have advantages and disadvantages.

Organizer:  Justin Ball (BI_SIG@utoug.org

Utah OAUG (UTOAUG) is a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Utah Oracle Users Group and a Geographical Interest Group of the Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG). It provides a means to attend various local events, network, and exchange ideas with other Oracle Application users.

The MySQL SIG meets to share lessons learned and discuss how to effectively use this wildly popular, small and ultra-fast database. Version 8.0 is chock full of new features and performance enhancements, and we want to talk about all of them.

MySQL powers the most demanding Web, E-commerce, SaaS and Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) applications. It is a fully integrated transaction-safe, ACID compliant database with full commit, rollback, crash recovery and row level locking capabilities. MySQL delivers the ease of use, scalability, and performance to power Facebook, Google, Twitter, Uber, and many other modern, web-scale web sites.
