    POSITION: Computer Specialist 


    PURPOSE: Performs a variety of working level professional technical support duties as needed to analyze, program and maintain county-wide information, telecommunication and data processing operations of the County. 


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    Web Programming: 

    • Front-end web page development (HTML, Java, Javascript, JQuery, Dreamweaver)
    • Back-end development experience (PHP, Java, .net, PL/SQL)


    Systems Administration 

    • Troubleshoot problems with: servers, workstations, peripherals, tablets, audio/visual, and security devices
    • Unix, Linux, Windows, experience
    • Support end users with system functionality


    Database Administration and Software Development: 

    • Performs software programming along with other software development lifecycle activities (requirements - design, test, document, work with others, and knowledge of C language)
    • Oracle experience a plus
    • ArcGIS server administration/development a plus


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Graduation from college with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, communication technology, electronics, data management or related field; AND
    • Two (2) years of responsible experience performing above and related duties; specific experience computer programming and software management is preferred; OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience

    SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience writing and tuning SQL statements 

    • Experience creating and modifying PL/SQL procedures, functions, and packages 

    • Experience creating and modifying forms and reports using the Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports tools 

    • Experience programming and troubleshooting with Oracle eBusiness Suite (EBS) R11 or R12 

    • Experience with web programming languages is preferred but not required 

    • Ability to program software to meet the customized needs of a growing and expanding Corporation.

    The Oracle E-Business Suite Applications Developer participates directly in the design, development and enhancement of existing or new applications for Oracle E-Business Suite R12. Employs advanced knowledge of programming and systems analysis procedures.  Requires specialized knowledge of Oracle Developer Suite, PL/SQL, and Unix Scripting. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation with the rest of the DBA team to provide support for 24x7 SQL Server and Oracle databases in multiple geographic locations. The position is located in Salt Lake City, UT.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  


    Successful candidate will responsible for:

    • Supporting SQL Server databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security.
    • Proactively monitoring  database systems to ensure database availability with minimum downtime.
    • Improvement and maintenance of databases including installation and upgrades.
    • Implementation and release of database changes.

     

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
    • Minimum 5 years of  SQL Server Database Administration experience
    • Experience managing multiple MS SQL 2005/2008 RDBMS on large systems
    • Experience with troubleshooting,  transaction query analysis and  tuning,  monitoring, and tuning  SQL Server databases, and implementing SQL Server database security measures.
    • Experience with SQL Server database auditing, backup, and recovery.
    • Experience with the following Oracle features:  datapump, database links, synonyms.
    • Experience with Windows clustering and SQL Server mirroring.
    • SQL Server certification preferred.
    • Some experience with srvctl and Oracle RAC.
    • Strong oral/written communication skills required
    • Experience with monitoring, maintaining, patching and tuning  production database environments
    • Candidates must pass a background check.

     

    Preferred Experience:

    • 5 years of Production Oracle DBA support experience on Unix or Linux
    • Proficiency with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, and SQL Statement tuning experience
    • Experience with  RAC
    • Experience with data guard
    • Backup and recovery using RMAN
    • Experience with ASM
    • Experience with Grid Control
    • Database performance tuning
    • TDE experience including wallet management and migration
    • Capacity monitoring and management capabilities

    • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
    • Excellent critical thinking skills
    • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to participate in multiple projects concurrently
    • Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals
    • Working knowledge of SQL Server is a plus
    • Oracle Certified Professional preferred.
    • Some experience with Windows clustering and SQL Server mirroring.
