Developer SIG: Mastering PL/SQL Programming: Standards, Exceptions, Logging and Debugging

At October's UTOUG conference, the Developer SIG met. Of the thirteen topics proposed,  nine garnered the most votes. We will attempt to cover three of the top nine in this Development Group SIG meeting: Exception Handling, Debugging and Standards/Documentation.

If you have ever had a bug in Production related to SQL or PL/SQL, and it was difficult to find and fix the bug, this seminar is for you! Keywords and concepts covered:
  • Simple, re-usable, robust
  • Automation
  • Instrumentation
  • Templates
  • Toggles and dynamic debugging
  • Self-documenting code
  • In short, tools and techniques to make coding, tuning and maintenance fast, easy and fun.

Bill Coulam has designed, developed and tuned with Oracle since 1995, first as a consultant to large telecom and energy companies, and most recently as an employee of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to help smooth and improve their new and existing systems. Things that light his fire: data modeling, performance tuning, and robust, reliable, re-usable PL/SQL.

Lunch from 12:-12:30, followed by the presentation.
