What do you do when database is big enough that your RMAN backup doesn't finish before it's time to start the next one?  What if your backup just takes so long that it affects normal production work?  Come to this DBA SIG and hear about some alternatives.  It's a case study of IHC’s Data Warehouse system, considering traditional and non-traditional backups.

Heber Allen has written software professionally for over 20 years and worked as an Oracle DBA since version 7.3.  He has worked at Intel, Motorola and the LDS Church and is now with the database administration team at Intermountain Healthcare.  An engineer at heart, Heber likes to dive in and learn how things are function.  His current hobbies are electrical generation and water systems.

Lunch from 12:00:-12:30, followed by the presentation.
