All SQL is not created equal. Some SQLs are inefficient and take a long time to run. Some use a lot of resources. This presentation will talk about some of the tools available to develop, analyze and optimize SQLs. Following this presentation will be a question and answer session where you can ask your DBA oriented questions, like "How do I detect/capture bad SQLs in my database?', 'What do I do when a developer says his/her SQL ran fine yesterday, but today it sucks, and they didn't change anything?' and many other exciting questions that you can come up with.

Steve Catmull is a Senior Data Architect at Intermountain Healthcare. He has extensive experience and understanding of the Oracle optimizer and performance in Oracle data warehousing and reporting environments. His database fascination started in the early 80s with dBASE III and did not become a career until a decade later when he joined Intermountain and started exploring Oracle 7. Prior to Intermountain Healthcare, Steve worked in the Bulletin Board System industry. Each year he presents at the Utah Oracle User Group events. He has learned from many and hopes to teach many.

Lunch from 12:-12:30, followed by the presentation.
